Luke 9:18–26 forces us to answer who Jesus truly is and whether we will give Him our full allegiance. Peter’s confession that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, is the foundation of the church, but Jesus shows that real discipleship means denying ourselves, taking up our cross (dying to self), and following Him daily. We must choose between a comfortable, costless Christianity that can gain the world yet lose the soul, or a wholehearted, no‑retreat devotion that may cost us now but gains what matters forever.
