1 Corinthians 3:10–17 teaches that Christ is the only true foundation, but the quality of how we build on that foundation really matters. One day, our works will be tested by God—self-centered efforts will burn away, while what was done for His glory will be rewarded. The hope-filled challenge is that at any time we can repent of worthless “materials” and begin investing our time, talents, and treasures in what has eternal value.
