The Fragrance of Forgiveness

Luke 7:36–50

April 26, 2026 · Pastor Ron Hindt · Luke 7:36–50

LU018

In Luke 7:36-50 we see a sharp contrast between Simon the Pharisee’s religious pride and a sinful woman’s humble, extravagant worship as she anoints Jesus’ feet. Through the parable of two debtors, Jesus shows that those who grasp how greatly they’ve been forgiven will love Him more deeply. This passage presses us to ask whether we relate to Jesus with mere religious courtesy or with wholehearted devotion flowing from a true understanding of our forgiveness.
