What you worship is what you become. If your God is materialism, you'll become materialistic. If your God is pleasure, you'll become licentious. But if Christ is your head — if the church is functioning as it should — something else happens entirely.

In this message from our series "Fullness," Pastor Ron opens Ephesians 4:13–16 and describes six marks of a church that has its priorities right.

Spiritual Unity and Intimacy: When teachers are equipping and saints are serving, the church comes to the unity of the faith and the knowledge — epignosis, relational knowledge — of the Son of God. Not intellectual data about Jesus, but a real relationship with Him.

Spiritual Maturity: God's desire is that every believer be conformed to the measure of the fullness of Christ. We are all under construction — hard hats on — but what you worship is what you become, and a Christ-centered church produces Christ-like people.

Spiritual Discernment: Spiritual children are tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine — tricksters, cunning craftsmen, deceitful plotters. Satan doesn't fight churches; he joins them. The antidote is the whole counsel of God's Word taught book by book, line upon line.

Spiritual Living and Service: The word Paul uses for "speaking the truth" is actually one word — truthing. Living out truth. And every joint supplying what it has, every part doing its share, causes the body to grow and edify itself in love.
