When a Roman soldier prepared for battle, the very first thing he did was gird his loins — tuck his robe into his belt so nothing would hinder him. Once that was done, he could move freely, fight confidently, and hold his sword. Take away the belt, and the whole thing falls apart.

What Is the Belt of Truth?: Jesus said in John 17:17, "Thy word is truth." The belt of truth is not just personal integrity — it is the whole counsel of God's Word wrapped around your life. Everything you think, say, and do filtered through Scripture. It is the foundational piece of armor. When the belt is on, the rest of the armor holds together.

Four Things the Belt Does: It is the foundation of the believer's daily walk. It gives security — daily time in God's Word prepares you for every attack. It makes you battle-ready. And it speaks of total commitment — like a soldier who has girded up his loins, you are saying, Lord, I'm ready. I'm not taking this off.

How Satan Attacks It: He questions God's character and credibility — especially in times of tragedy. He pushes false doctrine, one subtle lie mixed with a lot of truth. He attacks the Word's sufficiency, suggesting it isn't enough for life's complexities. And he attacks its veracity through professors, skeptics, and anyone who benefits from people not trusting the Bible.

Are You a Butterfly, a Botanist, or a Bee?: The butterfly flits from verse to verse, taking little in. The botanist comes with a magnifying glass, takes notes, and never applies it. The bee goes deep, extracts what it can, and goes out full every time. God wants bees.
