Everyone says forgiveness is a lovely idea — until they have someone or something to forgive.

In this message from our verse-by-verse study of Philemon, Pastor Ron covers verses 4–7 and draws out four marks of a genuine forgiver from Paul's words of commendation to Philemon — taught not through principle or parable, but through a real-life situation involving a runaway slave, a wronged master, and an apostle who trusted that love would win.

Forgivers Love God: Only the believer has the capacity to forgive for the right reason — for the glory of God, not to save face.

Forgivers Love God's People: Agape love and forgiveness are inseparable — if the love of God has been poured into your heart, the capacity to forgive is already there.

Forgivers Love Fellowship: Nothing would send a more powerful testimony to the church than Philemon forgiving the man who stole from him — forgiveness isn't just personal, it's a witness.

Forgivers Love Service: A servant heart and a forgiving heart go hand in hand — those who live to refresh others are the same people who can absorb an offense and still extend grace.
