A young boy riding his bike through the neighborhood spotted his crush coming out of her front door. He turned to look — and rode straight into a parked car. Catapulted onto the hood. Not watching where he was going.

That's the picture Paul has in mind when he says walk circumspectly.

In this message from our series "Fullness," Pastor Ron opens Ephesians 5:15–17 and calls believers to walk wisely — alert, purposeful, and in step with God's will.

Alertness — Walk Circumspectly: The word circumspect comes from the Greek akrobas — accurate, exact, examining with great care. It means walking through a cow pasture with your eyes open. The world is a spiritual minefield, and the believer who isn't paying attention will blow it. Peter walked on water until he looked away from Jesus.

The Appointment — Redeeming the Time: The word redeem means to buy out of slavery. The word time here is kairos — a fixed, allocated season. You have a specific amount of time on earth and you will either maximize it or squander it. Kill time, and you murder opportunity. That old Greek statue of Opportunity — wings on the feet, forelock in the front, bald in the back — you can grab it when it comes, but once it passes, it's gone.

The Apprehension — Understanding God's Will: Don't be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. God's will isn't mystical — it starts with six things already clearly stated in Scripture: be saved, spirit-filled, sanctified, submissive, willing to suffer, and satisfied. When those are in order, God can gently direct the rest.
