Privacy Policy

Calvary Houston Mobile App
Effective date: September 6, 2026

This policy covers the Calvary Houston mobile app for iPhone, iPad, and Android. Our TV apps for Roku, Fire TV, Google TV, and Apple TV are covered by a separate policy, because they have no accounts and no sign-in.

Calvary Houston ("Church," "we," "us," or "our") operates the Calvary Houston mobile app (the "App"), which provides sermons, events, Bible reading, and giving information. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how it is used, and your choices.

By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Using the App Without an Account

You can use most of the App without signing in. Watching and listening to messages, browsing events, reading the Bible, and following the reading plan all work without an account, and without providing any personal information.

Signing in is optional. It exists so that your saved items, your place in a message, and your reading-plan progress follow you to another device.

2. Information You Provide

Your email address, and only if you choose to sign in.

Sign-in uses a one-time code sent to your email — there is no password anywhere in the App, and we never ask you to create one. When you request a code:

We do not ask for your name, phone number, mailing address, date of birth, or payment information.

3. Information Collected Automatically

If you are signed in, the App syncs the following to the Church's own server so it is available on your other devices:

The device identifier is generated by the App itself. It is not your device's serial number, and it is not an Apple or Google advertising identifier.

Whether or not you are signed in, the App reports anonymous viewing activity — that a message was opened and how far playback progressed. This is kept separately from any account and has never contained your identity. It tells the Church which content is being watched; it cannot be traced back to you.

Your IP address is processed briefly to rate-limit requests and prevent abuse. It is not stored in readable form. Where a record is kept at all — alongside a sign-in code request, or in a delivery log used to troubleshoot "I never received my code" — only a hash of the address is stored, never the address itself.

4. Information We Do Not Collect

To be explicit, the App does not collect or access:

The App contains no third-party advertising or analytics software. We do not sell, rent, or share your information with data brokers or advertisers, and we do not use it for advertising of any kind.

5. Information Stored On Your Device

Some information stays on your phone or tablet and is never sent to us:

You can remove all of it by deleting the App. Downloads can also be removed individually inside the App.

6. Service Providers

The App relies on a small number of providers, which process data only as needed to deliver the service and are not authorized to use it for their own purposes:

The App is distributed through the Apple App Store and Google Play, which have their own privacy practices governing your device and operating system.

If you visit our website (https://calvaryh.org) or use other church services such as event registration or prayer requests, those may collect additional information under their own notices. This policy covers only the App.

7. Deleting Your Account and Data

You can delete your account from inside the App at any time — open the Account screen and choose Delete my account. No email, phone call, or form is required.

Deleting your account permanently removes:

This cannot be undone. Anonymous viewing counts (section 3) are not deleted, because they were never linked to you and contain nothing that identifies you.

Sign-in code records expire automatically. Email delivery logs, which contain only hashed addresses, are purged after 30 days.

If you would prefer we handle the deletion for you, contact us using the information below.

8. Children's Privacy

The App is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the App. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us below so we can address it.

9. Data Retention and Security

We retain the information described above only as long as necessary to operate the App, and we use reasonable technical safeguards to protect it — including hashing sign-in codes, email addresses in code records, session tokens, and IP addresses rather than storing them in readable form. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App or applicable law. The "Effective date" above will be updated when changes are made. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
